Located at the centre of Srinagar, Dal lake is Srinagar's prime attraction. Actually consists of 4 lakes connected by a intricate network of canals. The 4 lakes are namely Gargabal, Bod Dal, Lokut Dal & Nagin. Dal Lake also houses 3 island 2 of which are marked with four chinar trees at the four corners, thus are known as Char Chinar. the third island located near Dal gate is known as Nehuru Park.
Sikhara (Doctorate boat with a shade, used by J&K Tourism as it's logo) are available from Dal Gate and the ride takes one past the Bathing Boats, Kabutar Khana, Char Chinar, Floating Gardens & Markets, Nehru Park and finally ending at Dal Gate. A circular tour of about two hours costing about Rs800.
