The star attraction of the Mukteshwar & Siddheshwar Temple complex. The 10th century temple is approached by a intricately curved stone arched gateway, one of a kind in the whole of Orissa.
The Mukteshwar Temple consists of a Jagmohan & Biman. The walls are intricately curved with not only by geometric and floral patterns but also with figurative iconography.
The spire contains an interesting iconography of two "mustached women" holding on to the mane of a lion. The icon probably represented the seal of the builder and is known as Bho or Gobaksha. |
